Newsletter Analysis

This is my analysis of the deyes high school newsletter from Jan 13th 2013. I will list the issues i found with this newslettert and mention some ways I fewel i could improve them.

To improve the Deyes High School Newsletter I will have to target a specific demographic. The newsletter is not clear about who it is targetting:
There are parts that appear to be aimed at governners.
There are Areas supposedly aimed at students, but these are only aimed at students who chose particular subjects.
There is a section aimed at young children, the numeracy tips this section offers are not dissimilar to those taught in a year 4 maths lesson. Also the addition of a popular childrens character, Mickey Mouse. The changing, bright colour sceme is also something you would associate with younger children.
One section is a puzzle section, this is stereo-typically a section aimed at students and pentioners.

I will also need to think about the type of imagry to use. The imagry i choose to use will determine the type of school readers are invisionning, an image of an older building will present the idea that the school is: old, traditional, ect.
An image of a newer building will give an impression of a: new, modern, up-to-date. school.

I will most likely change the font being used aswell. Comic Sants, seems to frar to informal to be used in an official school's newsletter. A font like Times New Roman, would be more apropriate. To the find the most suitable font, i will search websites like dafont.com, so that i have a broarder range of fonts to choose from.
From the fonts i have found so far, these are the opnes I think would be most suitable:

Font Name               Website

Tomsk                        DaFont.com

Pinophyta                   DaFont.com

KB Just My Type       DaFont.com

TwentyTwelve Slab    DaFont.com

Truebo Serif               DaFont.com

Circlesd and Sticks     DaFont.com

Argocksaz                   DaFont.com

I will also consider changing the colour sceme, the current one is bright and uses a variety of vibrant colours. This sceme seems too childish for a high school newsletter, in my opinion, For this reason i will choose darker colours, to show a more serious school, when producing my own version of the newsletter. The front page of the current newsletter has 6 different colours, this makes it look overloaded, messy and thrown together. To prevent this occuring in my version, I will try and minimize the number of colours used on each page.
